Social Studies December 8-12

Social Studies November 24-25

Cox Care Mobile

The Cox Care Mobile will be here on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.  The Care Mobile is a FREE medical office on wheels with services provided by a Nurse Practitioner.  The services provided are for individuals from birth to 18 years old.   Flu vaccines and other immunizations are available for those without insurance or with active Medicaid.  You may call your school nurse to inquire about the services provided and to schedule an appointment.  Thank you!

Social Studies November 10-14

Social Studies Test Update

Good Morning,

Last week, I said we would have the Egpt Assessment this Friday.  On Monday, I decided we needed to have a little bit more time on this unit.  So, instead of the assessment on Friday, we will have an I-Assignment on the Egypt Map.  A blank copy can be found in my Important Documents.  Tonight, I will add a copy a map with the answers on it.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email or contact me.  The assessment will now be on next Tuesday, November 11th.  I hope everyone has a great day!

Social Studies November 3-7

Good Morning!

Next week, we will be finishing up our unit on Ancient Egypt!  At the beginning of the week, students will be learning about hieroglyphs, what role the pyramids played in the lives of the Egyptians, and how the pyramids were built.  On Friday, the student will take their assessment over Egypt.  Study guides, and notes can be found in the link named Important Documents.  Students can also pick up a study guide in class. Social Studies October 14th-17th

Tutoring

For students who need to make up any I-Assignments, I will be staying after school from 3:30-4:30 tomorrow afternoon.  Students just need to bring a note from a parent stating they are staying to make up assignments.

Missing I-Assignments

Parents/Guardians,

If students are missing assignments in any class, those assignments must be made up by next Friday, October 10th or the assignments turn into below basics on their grade cards.  If students are missing assignments in Social Studies, they can come in before school, at 7:00 and work on them any morning except Fridays.  Also, students can stay after school on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30, and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00.  If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me.  My email is golubsks@clever.k12.mo.us or you can call 743-4820.  I hope you have a great evening!

Running Club

Due to the forecast of rain and potential storms, running club has been cancelled for tomorrow, Thursday October 2^nd.

Culture Project

I am allowing the students to work on their projects at home.  If they are bringing their posters home, they should have articles for the United States and also for the country they have chosen.

If they are working on a slideshow, they need to go to drive.google.com.  It will bring them to a login page.  They need to enter the same information they use for the white screen on their chromebooks. They will understand what this means.  Once on their google drive, they need to open up their presentation.

To find the information, they will need to go to everyculture.com and choose the United States and their country.

For iPhones, iPads, Samsung Galaxies and Android devices, students will need to download the google slides app from the store.  This app is free.  The students  have been told this and shown what the app looks like.  Once downloaded, and in the app,  the students need to enter the same information as their white screen for the chromebooks.  The students will need to also use safari or whatever the internet icon is on the device to go to www.everyculture.com and look up the information.

Culture Project

Just wanted to let everyone know, I told the students they could look up the information needed for their projects this weekend.  They need to find information on the elements of culture (beliefs, education, family, art, government and economy) for the United States and the country they chose.  All the information can be found at Every Culture, http://www.everyculture.com/.

Social Studies 9/22-9/26

Good Evening!

Next week, we will be working on our culture unit.  On Tuesday, the students will take their assessment.  The study guide and rubric can be found in the Important Documents.  I will also put the link within this post.  Starting Wednesday, students will be working on a culture project.  For this project, students will choose one country to compare to the United States.  Students will compare these countries using the Elements of Culture.  The rubric and directions can also be found in the Important Documents.  For this project, it would be good for students to have their Internet Usage Agreement form turned in.  Here is the website for the Important Documents http://cleverelemiddle.ss4.sharpschool.com/cms/One.aspx?portalId=15986&pageId=654111.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day will be held tomorrow morning from 10:00-11:30.  Students and grandparents can come in by either office and tour the building.  We hope to see a lot of students and grandparents tomorrow morning!  Have a great weekend!

Social Studies 8/25-8/29

Good Afternoon!

Next week, we will be focusing on facts and opinions, and primary and secondary sources.  Students will have an assessment over facts and opinions on Tuesday.  At the beginning of the week, I will give them information on their primary source project.  Students will have to pick an event and interview someone about it.  It can be their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or even siblings.  The students will write a report using their primary source (the interview).  This will be done on Friday and the following Monday.  As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.  I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

First Week and 8/18-8/22

Good Afternoon!
